Ponte Giulio creates barrier-free bathrooms for the ageing population

According to the Telegraph, the number of centenarians is projected to rise nearly six-fold, from 14,000 in 2014 to 83,000 in 2039.

Over recent years, the UK has seen a significant increase in the number of ageing
people. According to the Telegraph, the number of centenarians is projected to
rise nearly six-fold, from 14,000 in 2014 to 83,000 in 2039. In many cases, the
ageing UK population is leading to households accommodating bigger families since
elderly relatives are moving in with family members as they're not always able
to be self-sufficient. At Ponte Giulio, we believe everyone deserves to live in
a safe and functional environment, whatever their age.

Marco Ragno, head of Ponte Giulio in the UK says: "Caring for those not
able to be self-sufficient requires carefully considered spaces that are equipped
to ease the life of both the assisted and caregiver.

"Those who care for a family member who cannot be self-sufficient need
as much help as possible, especially when undertaking daily tasks many of us
take for granted. Using the bathroom for example, can be made safer by equipping
the area with grab rails,
which offer support for wheelchair users who may need to move from their wheelchair
to the toilet.

"A shower
area
equipped with a floor-level tray, a seat and grab rails makes for
a smoother, more accessible bathroom space. A walk-in bathtub allows those who
cannot bathe in a regular tub due to mobility restrictions to enjoy a nice a
warm bath."

For years, Ponte Giulio has been investing in solutions that allow both those
who require support and caregivers to live daily life safely and with peace
of mind. In addition to developing sanitary ware, shower trays and functional
accessories, we have also aimed to remain at the forefront of creating inclusively
designed solutions, something we have demonstrated with our new range, HUG.

The HUG
range is proof that it is possible to have a safe bathroom that is multigenerational,
stylish, modern and with an added classic touch of sleek Italian design.

Marco continues: "HUG
is a range we are very proud of. The collection includes grab rails, which are
not only fantastic safety products but can also be stylish furnishing elements
as the HUG
collection proves. The range also offers seats and stools in polyurethane, and
shower trays and enclosures designed to provide a safe and accessible showering
experience. In addition to this, we have created large washbasins, which offer
users plenty of space. We have created a bathroom where users find themselves
in an enjoyable space which has been totally conceived around their needs.

"HUG
really is about embracing the bathroom space and the user. It's a bathroom where
care is demonstrated in every detail and safety is at the core of the design."
