Breaking down barriers, an outdated concept. Understanding the needs of those who have difficulty in movement and making the use of the toilet bowl as easy as possible, reserved and healthy, are the reasons why a new and revolutionary product has been created. And it is born from the meeting of two worlds: those who designed the product and those who made it.

The “For All Toilet Raiser”, designed by Alessandro Fugazzotto and produced by Ponte Giulio, in its simplicity, is an innovative solution. “After making a handmade prototype, I had to find a competent company to realize it - explains the designer - and I found Ponte Giulio. I remember the first day I met its owner, Enrico Carloni, he told me: "You'll have to work hard, we'll carry this project forward together".

Can you tell us about your meeting with Enrico Carloni and the "tests" you underwent, before starting your collaboration?
I remember that day very well. I was explaining the reason why I built this accessory and I asked to Enrico Carloni: “Are you willing to do a test pretending to be me and to be in my condition?” He said yes, without hesitation and this struck me very much! I asked him to sit on the toilet bowl without my accessory and I showed him how to do it, then I asked him to do the same test but with the “For All Toilet Raiser” mounted... And we started to produce it together.

Why did you choose Ponte Giulio?
I chose it because I think it is the leading company in this sector, but especially because I believe that our collaboration gives a strong message of inclusion.

Do you think that this raiser, allowing the use of the hand shower on the side, breaks down another barrier?
That's right. I strongly believe in the side openings: for those who cannot walk, they are the most practical solution to perform daily actions of intimate hygiene.

Why did you decide that it had to be made in polyurethane?
For the protection of the skin: sitting on rigid surfaces can lead to redness and pressure sores.

Can you explain us the innovation that lies in the fixing system on the toilet bowl?
Since I have been in a wheelchair I have never wanted to set limits when traveling. Thanks to my accessory I was able to adapt it to any toilet (a fundamental environment to preserve our autonomy and intimacy). I created also different widths of brackets, to make the product more stable and secure.

Can you tell us about the work you're doing in presenting your company and the motivations behind them?
I created NoLimits, in order to overcome disability-related limitations. I started by visiting some hospitals, presenting the product to who help and educate patients with spinal cord injury. It is thanks to their work if these people can reintegrate into a society which has to change a lot to be truly inclusive. I am trying to create a network of distributors.

Are you already thinking about another product to break down other barriers?
Absolutely, there is a lot of work to be done. But together with Ponte Giulio we’ll do it. Now we are working to an innovative toilet… keep following us!

Alessandro Fugazzotto

Paraplegic, confined to a wheelchair following a motorbike accident caused by a sudden illness, Alessandro Fugazzotto is the creator of the universal toilet lift For All. Finding himself facing new challenges, Alessandro immediately wanted to study solutions that would allow him to continue to experience the bathroom environment in complete freedom. After meeting Enrico Carloni during a trade fair, the two began a fruitful professional collaboration based above all on sharing common values: inclusiveness, accessibility and the removal of architectural barriers. This synergy led to the creation of For All, an innovative product of its kind, which aims to simplify life for many people with motor difficulties.
