The bathroom is an excellent business card for businesses and accommodation facilities

How many times have you judged a business by their bathroom?

Many people believe that tidy rooms, no barriers and good furniture in a restaurant or a bar, adds considerable value to the business, not to mention accommodation facilities. If a bathroom is clean, the whole practice tends to be considered clean. The same is true for the care and attention that is put into managing it. Cleaning becomes an evaluation criterion, in addition to the quality of the food, service or furniture.

This and the regulations on the removal of architectural barriers have meant that the attention towards designs for public bathrooms has grown. Rooms are often small and must be suitable for people of all ages and abilities. Designers and installers are oriented towards tailor-made solutions for this type of facility, in order to optimize spaces, install the right sanitary fixture and identify the most appropriate furniture.

Hotel managers or bar and restaurant owners rely on professionals who can make their facilities functional, barrier-free, beautiful and spacious, especially when space is limited. Building a custom-made bathroom means thinking about spaces: a sink against an awkward wall, a shower tray that fits into a corner with irregular walls, space saving sanitary fixtures which are suitable for any user. The furnishings complete the whole area, carefully chosen, positioned at the right height and are safe: wardrobes with built-in grab bars, washbasins with towel holders, mirrors with built in lights, wall-mounted and tilting shower seats, shower cabins with double doors.

Products can be customized not only in shape, but also in colour, to be even more adaptable to your environment. For example, bright furnishings in a dark area, colours which appear to make the wall look longer in a small spaces, or furnishings high against the wall in narrow areas, with soft colours.

As far as safety is concerned, today technology offers antibacterial systems that reduce the level of microbes by almost 100%, especially in frequently used areas. Specific treatments that can be incorporated into a growing range of materials: plastics, coatings, polymers, fabrics. These work to extend the effectiveness of regular cleaning rather than replace it. Cleaning must be done with care, not just by removing visible dirt, but by using the right detergents and disinfectants and by drying surfaces, sanitary ware and furniture.

It is also interesting to understand which areas of a bathroom tend to be less clean. Environmental studies show that "the dirtiest part of a bathroom, is not the toilet seat as one might expect, but the sink". So cleaning should be throughly done in each area. Another factor that must be considered both in hospitality and in commercial establishments is accessibility. Not only in terms of breaking down barriers, but also by taking into account the age of the users (think of solutions that include grab bars for people with mobility difficulties and baby changing tables.)

The creation of enjoyable bathrooms built in full compliance with the laws is fundamental. They are important not only in the design or renovation of a building used for accommodation purposes, but in their daily management. King George V of England suggested "always going to the bathroom when you get the opportunity": a habit that many patrons, especially traders have. Therefore it is not advised to be caught unprepared, but to be ready to offer customers clean, accessible,

well-furnished and functional environments, while guaranteeing the best possible business card for the company.
