Shower trays

The evaluation and therefore the choice of shower tray should be based on certain
aspects that influence the following characteristics: shape, height of installation
in relation to the floor, the type and shape of the drain and therefore the
material with which it is made.

The shape is, without a doubt, determined by the available space, whether it
be a new installation or bathroom restoration. An irregular and perhaps not
too large surface will influence the decision.The type of surface will play
a part in determining the position and height of the drain and therefore the
height from the ground of the shower tray. It should be considered that the
smaller the edge, the wider the drain should be, to ensure the rapid flow of
water. These latter aspects will have an important influence on the choice and
therefore installation mode that could be one of the following:

• The most traditional installation method is when the shower tray sits
  on the floor and you have to step over the edge of the tray to access
  the shower.


• A partially built in low level shower tray is inset into the floor
  and so it is lower in height than when the shower tray rests on the floor,
  providing easier access.


• Floor level "step free" shower trays are set flush into
  the bathroom floor and have no height difference between the tray and the
  floor. There are versions of this type of tray which have a removable top
  to allow for easy inspection of the base and drain.

Now all that you have to do is choose the materials, and in addition to the
traditional ceramic, there are endless acrylic based varieties which are versatile
and offer a high standard of quality, and also enameled steel.

Ponte Giulio has chosen to make traditional sanitary porcelain shower trays
- fire clay - as well as shower trays in synthetic materials such as "composite
minerals" and "acrylic stone", commercially known as "corian".
The shower trays in acrylic stone are versatile and custom made in a variety
of shapes, sizes and colours for all installation solutions. The type of drain
is equally ductile, ranging from the traditional system of a siphon and a cover
which could be chrome or the same material as the tray to "gully"
version, with a cover tile in acrylic or stainless steel.

Shapes and dimensions

The shower trays made of acrylic stone by Ponte Giulio, offer a wide variety
of custom made solutions in terms of shapes and sizes for any installation need.


An extensive colour range makes them especially versatile.

The decision to install a shower tray in either a raised or flush position
on the bathroom floor may be made for aesthetic or technical reasons. Ponte
Giulio shower trays can be freely installed, according to different needs.

Types of drain.

One of the most important details that characterizes a shower tray is definitely
the type of drain. Ponte Giulio offers a wide choice of these, from the traditional
system with a siphon and a cover plate, in chrome or in the the same material
as the shower tray, to the "gully" version with an acrylic stone or
stainless steel cover tile over the drain hole.

Special shower trays

The Plank slatted shower tray, (B46CPM49),
is one of the special version shower trays for which Ponte Giulio offers a limited
choice on the dimensions and slats on the surface. The customization options
of this model are summarized in the chart below.
